Round 1 Update

FROM THE PRESIDENT

Welcome back to the football.  Round one of our 2018 season is this Saturday and we are looking forward with excitement and anticipation for the challenges that are before us in division 2 football.

There are several things I’d like to bring to your attention today that are worth the read:

1.  Welcome to all our new faces to the club.

both players, families, sponsors and members.  We are fortunate to attract some incredible talent for the season ahead to compliment our local Park Orchards bred talent.  One of our strong values as a club is to welcome everyone with respect and to allow each and every individual to make Park Orchards Football Club their home.  This year we have managed to add to our list some experienced leadership and football ‘smarts’ to our emerging list.  We are pleased to announce today that we have successfully managed to help Daniel Gorringe (ex Gold Coast Suns and Carlton Football Player) become a Park Orchards Football Player – welcome to the Shark Tank Goz.  Jarrad Wright (Balwyn Football Club) is a welcome addition to our leadership as a playing assistant coach.  Wrighty is an amazing football teacher with division one premiership experience and has been wonderful for our young boys at training and will be a rock in defence this year for our strong backline.  Brendan Weinert (Croydon Football Club) has proven success in the EFL winning multiple goal kicking awards for his division and adds experience and skill to our mids and forwardline. Finally (for today) we’d like to welcome back Tom Johnson who was one of our more skilled players for many years in the midfield.  Jono had a year off football with study and travel and will be a welcomed addition back into the fold.
There are another 3-4 new faces that we will introduce you to over the coming weeks and we welcome them all to our football and netball community.

2.  Become a member –

our memberships are available online right now for you to join up.  We have moved to a keyring style membership card this year and you will use this for entry into home games.  There are different levels as always for memberships with some re-vamped opportunities to suit all of us.  Please jump onboard now and be an ALL-IN member for 2018 https://www.parkorchardsfc.com.au/membership/

3.  ANZAC Day

Save the date.  Saturday 21st April will be a very special day for not only our football club, but our whole community.  We ask that you get the word out as we come together for a very special service (we would like our whole community to be a part of) and a stand up lunch that will be alot of fun.  Please save the date and we will have an opportunity for you to purchase tickets for this next week.

4.  Tom Feher

Our senior Captain will celebrate a very important milestone on Saturday.  He is the first player in the clubs short history to play 100 senior football games.  Please congratulate him over the weekend and come along to celebrate this special day with our Skipper.

5.  U19’s

We are proud to announce that in 2018 we are fielding for the first time in the clubs history – 2 U19s teams.  We are incredibly blessed to have a tight working relationship with our junior club who do an amazing job to run such a successful football program year in year out and we are the fortunate recipients of a so many players that want to call Park Orchards home as their senior football club.  Please come along to support our u19s throughout the year.  Congratulations to Tony Weeks and a strong group of parents whom have managed to get this up this year.  Kevin George is taking on the role of u19s Program Coordinator and we want to welcome our second u19s coach to the club – Simon McAuliffe. Finally, we want to acknowledge all our sponsor group and thank them once again for  their support towards our club.  John Hoskins and Hoskins Premium Property People are once again our major sponsors and have continued to believe in and support our club so generously – thanks to John and your team.
We’d like to also acknowledge the following sponsors:
  • Elephant & Co – Platinum Plus
  • AGI & Consolidated Energy – Platinum Plus
